Specialty Remodelers

When someone needs their windows replaced, new gutters, a new deck, new siding, adding insulation, installing gas appliances such as fireplaces, or even adding a swimming pool, they might call a specialty remodeler.  These are just a few of the many services offered by this classification of remodelers.  In general, a specialty remodeler sells a product, or line of products, and installs them.  Specialty remodelers, also called exterior remodelers, make up as much as 20% of the remodeling market.  Some of the traits of a good contractor in this field are the ability to market, sell and efficiently provide the specialty product.

As I mentioned before, marketing and sales cannot be underestimated, especially here.  As much as 10% of your annual budget needs to be earmarked for advertising and sales.  Most specialty companies will need 100 or more jobs each year to be successful.  The work is repetitive and, although this doesn’t get the creative juices flowing, it does allow for excelling in efficiency.  Procedures, or processes can be perfected and will be crucial to your success.  Companies who can turn out their products very quickly, while still providing excellent customer service will stand a very good chance of not only surviving, but thriving.  You can grow a very large and profitable company doing this.  However, never let your marketing and sales lag.  As you become known and successful, you will be tempted to let up on the advertising and other marketing.  Don’t!  Your leads will begin to dwindle and soon your “pipeline” will be empty.

Yes, I do make a commission on some of the products I write about. But I write about them because they will be beneficial to you and your company. You don't pay a cent more for the product, so it's a win-win situation. So thanks in advance for helping me keep Remodeler Biz going.
