in Choosing a remodeling niche

Deciding What Type of Remodeling Company to Start

In general, there are four major types of remodeling companies.  First there is the handyman service company, which performs all types of maintenance around the house.  Next there are specialty remodelers, that specialize in one or more fields of installed products, such as window installation, siding installation, water heater installations and small plumbing jobs, deck building, roofing installations and many more.  Then there is the general remodeling company that does any and everything that has to do with remodeling a home.  Firms like this may be very large, but mostly you’ll find them to be small remodeling companies that need to be everything to everyone so they can survive.  And lastly, there is the design-then-build company that specializes in designing the job, quoting the job and building the entire project.  A design-then-build company might be a called a one-stop shop company, providing all that a customer needs, from the beginning to the end of the process.

Choosing the type of remodeling company might be a conscious decision at the start-up of your new company, or it might just evolve into the niche that best suits you.  First let’s look at these four different types of remodeling, and I will explain some of the traits of each.

Yes, I do make a commission on some of the products I write about. But I write about them because they will be beneficial to you and your company. You don't pay a cent more for the product, so it's a win-win situation. So thanks in advance for helping me keep Remodeler Biz going.
